We’re playing a benefit show for a friend that is producing a documentary called Beats, Rhymes & Life. Its about a hip-hop therapy group for kids in Oakland, CA. Our set starts at 10:30pm!

Otto Mobile & The Moaners @ The Freight & Salvage on Thursday

Our Roots-Americana band, Otto Mobile and the Moaners is set to perform our biggest show to date tomorrow, Thursday January 7th, at the esteemed Freight and Salvage in Berkeley, CA. We’ve been very excited and preparing for a couple months now. Its a great venue that just moved into a new downtown location last Fall. We did some live radio promo on KPIG last Saturday and have played a couple warm-up cafe shows in the past weeks as well. Elliott will play the grand piano too! Our set is at 8pm.

We got lots of vocal recordings done over memorial day weekend – it was highly productive! We also made some decisions on what songs we think should go on Seasong, the next Dem Suite record. Right now we’ve tentatively decided on 9 tracks out of 15 or so, its really starting to feel like an album and that makes me really excited! We still have some more vocal recording to do as well as some lyric writing. We are also going to completely rerecord a tune that we originally recorded in Mendocino last August following our summer tour, mainly because I lost all the original files/tracks somehow and now we can’t mix the song properly. I think it will also be an interesting recording/studio exercise to recreate that Mendo-vibe.

Last week’s shows we’re all pretty good. The Dem Suite/Poleng show was absolutely fantastic from a musical standpoint – having Rob playing drums with us took it all to a new level, we were all really excited about that. The two Otto Mobile shows over the weekend were fun, at the very least they were interesting – the weather could have been better, it was cold and cloudy here in SF. There is media from all this floating around somewhere, I will post anything that’s good once I get it.

dem suite @ poleng – next wed may 20th

We’re playing Poleng Lounge’s Storyville, Wednesday May 20th. Show starts at 9:30pm and is FREE! Its a sit down dinner kinda vibe. I’m thinking a la Yoshi’s, if you’ve ever been.

Sidenote: Before Poleng was Poleng it was know back in the day as Storyville – which was a famous jazz and blues venue during its time. Sadly it burned to the ground and Poleng Lounge was built in its place to carry on the tradition.

This is our first public show since our northwest tour last summer, and its been over 2 years since we first played live at Poleng. We’re very excited about this performance as we have a slew of new songs, new instruments and now a live drummer!
